Making an appointment
Location
Consultations are offered in two
ways: I have a clinic at the
Community Support Centre in
Maidstone, or appointments can be
at clients’ homes in the Medway
area. Many clients feel more relaxed and able to concentrate in the
familiar surroundings of their home, rather than in a formal practice.
All I require is that the client is able to provide a reasonably quiet
room where the session is likely to be undisturbed.
How many sessions?
I would expect most issues to be
dealt with in approximately three sessions. The
initial consultation is mainly one of discussion: I need to understand
how the issue to be treated affects the client’s life and
what
change the client would like to achieve before tailoring a brief and
strategic course of treatment for them. However, there is likely to be
some hypnosis in the initial consultation.
The exception to this is where a consultation is for the cessation of a smoking habit. Provided the client is committed to giving up and the smoking habit is purely habitual and not part of a deeper and more complex problem, then I would expect the habit to be resolved in just one session.

The
initial consultation usually lasts about 1 ½ hours. Apart
from
this, and Stopping Smoking, most hypnotherapy sessions last
approximately 1 hour.
